At Save the World Brewing in Marble Falls, owners Dave and Quyhn Rathkamp are out to save the world, one beer at a time. This isn’t just a slogan, they donate profits to charities, including Meals on Wheels, the Capital Area Food Bank, and Habitat for Humanity – $50,000 worth, so far.

Lazarus Brewing owner Christian Cryder is also an ordained Presbyterian minister. After 1o years in more traditional ministry in Montana, Chris longed for a different way to engage people. “Brewing is an old tradition practiced by monks for generations; Martin Luther’s wife was a home-brewer, and he hosted seminary students in his home for beer and discussion.” He moved to Austin to start this brewery because he saw it as a world-class city with a western feel. “This is a place where people get together to enjoy life, to live life together. I don’t have a problem with beer; I have a problem with bad beer. If that seems crazy, have a beer and get over it.” Chris does not pastor a traditional church, but instead, has a church in his home.
