4th Grader Applies to NASA With Very Captivating Qualifications

By  |

Back in July, NASA posted a job opportunity for a Planetary Protection Officer. The position would have the responsibilities of overseeing, leading, and maintaining the policies that NASA has in place for planet-protection. Well, it seems they might have found the perfect person for the role…but he’ll need a little more time to effectively transition into job placement.

A fourth grader from New Jersey, who is a self-proclaimed “Guardian of the Galaxy,” recently sent in his application, with a few caveats. Admittedly, he’s a bit young for the role. And, he does realize that he’s lacking in the work skills department, but he feels he more than compensates for that in life experience.

He says that he’s watched a superfluous amount of space movies, not to mention Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” He’s identified that among his outstanding qualifications is the fact that his sister already thinks of him as an alien, and he presently has the time to pick up how to “think like an alien.” Perhaps we’ll see this young man training for a future position through NASA at the space center here in Texas sometime in the near future!

NASA’s Planetary Research Director, Jonathan Rall, contacted the young man via telephone in order to personally thank him for his interest in the position. The organization also responded in writing to this ambitious New Jersey youth, urging that he stay in school and consider reapplying at a later date, when he’s a little older.  To read more from NASA regarding this young man’s letter and their response, click here.
