Once again, Chevrolet has generously invited us to take a fantastic road trip… this time, we’re going to Round Top, Texas! Last fall, we were able to take a trip to Nashville to enjoy the Country Music Awards thanks to our friends at Chevrolet, and we are ecstatic this time to travel Texas backroads and bask in the bluebonnets. We’ll be staying at Rancho Pillow, a unique 20-acre compound nestled near the tiny art town of Round Top, Texas.

Please stay tuned this weekend as we go LIVE on our Texas Hill Country Facebook and Instagram! Follow us for a tour through the antique show and on our Texas adventure!

The Show That Started It All

The Original Round Top Antiques Fair is celebrating their 50th year in Round Top, a history earned through their consistent reputation for unsurpassed quality and unusual, one-of-a-kind antiques. They offer three shows each year: the world-renowned Spring and Fall Antiques Fairs, in their venues, and the newer Winter Antiques Show, in the Big Red Barn. When you step through the door in the Big Red Barn or the Continental Tent, you will experience one of the Best Antique Shows in the nation.

According to the Round Top Antiques Fair websiteBarbara Crozier said in the February 2010, issue of Texas Home and Living, “Certainly the collection of Americana antiques at The Big Red Barn at Round Top is at the heart of the activity of Round Top.” Throughout the 30,000 square foot Big Red Barn and the nearby Big Red Barn Tent, you will find an irresistible array of beautifully displayed very early Americana, Texas primitive, and Continental furniture and accessories. The Continental Tent offers high-quality items from England, France, Italy, Spain, and other European countries − from country to formal, from small to large.  This should be the starting place for lovers of American & European furniture and much more!

Also of note, they do have porters available to carry items to the car, shippers on site to handle large items. The fair offers air-conditioned buildings and free parking, so shoppers can enjoy a memorable experience while finding exactly the right treasures to enhance their homes for years to come.

The Chevy Road Trip

But, we won’t need porters. We’ll be traveling in style in the all-new 2018 Chevy Equinox! Of course, we’ll check out the 4G LTE Wi-Fi, sync up our phone with Android Auto, and OnStar tech when driving. So many features, so little time!

According to Chevy, Equinox works hard for you. When you have your hands full, the available hands-free gesture liftgate opens with the simple motion of your foot. Not only that, a programmable memory height can be set for easy reach or to accommodate areas with low ceilings. And inside Equinox, you’ll have all the room you need. The 60/40 split-folding rear seats fold flat to create a generous 63.5 cu. ft. of cargo space.

So Who Designed the Equinox?

Kathy Sirvio, Global Chevrolet Senior Design Manager, takes the 2018 Equinox to a whole new level.

  • Kathy is a 25-year plus veteran of the Color & Trim Studio who began her career as an artist before entering the automotive industry and being the first on her team to have a degree in contemporary art. She is a new breed of color and trim designer – one that has earned street cred as a creative designer as well as a businesswoman.
  • As an international designer in the auto industry, Kathy travels the world to pull inspiration— keeping an eye out for the newest trends in fashion, architecture, as well as colors, patterns and textures of everyday objects. Making time for activities and artistic passions after work is important to Kathy and her design team to help spark their creativity. Kathy has a strong personal passion for antiquing. She actually collects and refurbishes unique pieces herself.
  • Kathy has had a tremendous impact on Chevrolet design, influencing important products like the Chevrolet Equinox. Her responsibilities extend to Chevrolet production interiors, concept vehicles, the brand’s global color palette and material portfolio, and the articulation of a cohesive design strategy that is tailored to each region around the world, all while maintaining a global focus and appearance.
