Work In Progress: Astros Mural Celebrates the City’s Strength

By  |

On East 20th Street in the Heights in Houston, a new mural dedicated to the Astros is taking over a wall on car upholstery and audio store Sublime Heights (near Steel City Pops and Birds Barbershop.) ABC 13 writes that the piece is being made by multimedia artist Skeez-181, and it’s still not quite finished, but it’s definitely worth taking a look at and snapping a photo in front of to celebrate the city’s strength.

On Instagram back in late November, Skeez-181 posted a photo of the History Earned mural as an earlier work in progress. At that time, he didn’t have the background details in, but the skyline alongside the silhouette of the World Series trophy in bold colors already conveyed a powerful image. Since then, he’s added in details giving the city more motion, and portraits of the players are still to come!

Chron.com writes, “The artist (real name David Flores) is known for his intricate and vibrant Aztec-influenced work around the city. When he is not livening up Houston’s walls, he teaches artist workshops. The lifelong Houstonian has been at it nearly 30 years.” He plans on finishing up the mural while working on several others and fighting off the flu.
