The popular Asian-European style café 85c Bakery recently opened up their 1000th location globally in Houston at 9750 Bellaire Blvd. ABC 13 says the chain is sometimes referred to as the “Starbucks of Taiwan” due to its popularity in the country. Americans are slowly becoming familiar with the bakery with locations in Texas, California, and Washington state.

The popular hangout offers coffee drinks served at 85 degrees Celsius (hence the name, 85c Bakery and Café), and they have a beautiful array of pastries and breads for customers to choose by placing them onto their tray with tongs.

Taking a look at their official website can introduce you to a few cusomter favorites like brioche, which is a Japanese style bread that they describe as “buttery and milky.” Next, there’s a cheese dog that goes beyond what you might expect. It’s a hot dog encased in a soft bread with cheeses, ketchup and mayo, and pepper and parsley to give it an extra kick. You really have to see the favorite cake, deluxe strawberry, to recognize how decadent and fluffy it is with vanilla crème brulle and strawberry moose. And, the common customer beverage of choice is boba milk tea, black tea combined with creamer and chewy tapioca balls.
