Baylor University Welcomes Their New President, Linda A. Livingstone, Ph.D.
On Tuesday, Baylor University announced that their 15th president, and first female president, will be Linda A. Livingstone, Ph.D. WFAA reports that she was selected via a unanimous vote made by the Board of Regents. Her first day on the job will be June 1st.
Dr. Livingstone is “currently dean and professor of management at the George Washington University School of Business in Washington, D.C.”, and served as dean at Pepperdine University prior to an associate dean position at Baylor. She should feel right at home returning to Waco.
A press release on Baylor.edu quotes Dr. Livingstone as saying, “I chose to begin my academic career at Baylor in significant part because of Baylor’s Christian mission. To return to Baylor to partner with the exceptional faculty, staff, students and administrators to fulfill the University’s vision to be a top-tier research institution, committed to excellence in all aspects of University life, while strengthening the Christian mission is an opportunity I look forward to with enthusiasm.”
She goes on to note the caring nature of Baylor’s community and that she hopes to encourage the compassion and ambition of Baylor students. Dr. Livingstone’s presidency follows a tough time for Baylor with the demotion of former president Ken Starr amidst a sexual assault scandal.
