What started as a simple traffic stop turned into a wild and wooly chase up a mountain and ended in half a ton of marijuana being confiscated. Wednesday morning, December 14th, Brewster County Deputies stopped a white Chevy pickup truck for a minor traffic violation. The truck came to a stop. Deputies exited their patrol vehicle and approached the pickup. Before they could reach the pickup, it sped away. Deputies rushed back to their vehicle and so began a high-speed pursuit.

Deputies chased after the vehicle which smashed through a fence. The chase continued through the pasture before running through a second fence. After hitting the second fence, the truck jumped some railroad tracks. When the pickup truck bounced across the railroad tracks, several bundles flew from the back of the truck. These bundles were later determined to contain marijuana. The chase continued through pastures and finally up the side of a mountain.
