A Town Fit for a Queen: Calvert Celebrates Its 150th Anniversary

Nestled in between Bryan and Waco, Texas lies the picturesque small town of Calvert, Texas. A town fit for a queen with its historic main street of 30 blocks lined with impressive Victorian architecture that takes you back to simpler times.

This unique antique town full of charm and history has gained plenty of attention thanks in part to its association with the successful HGTV show “Fixer Upper,” shared the January 2018 issue of “Texas Highways.” Gearing for a grand 150th birthday celebration, Calvert is set to throw a party unlike any other with events planned throughout the city on April 21, 2018.

With unique shops and beautiful historic homes from the 19th century to gaze upon, Calvert is a must for anyone looking for small-town charm. It’s reminiscent of a romantic story waiting to share its past through the pages of its streets lined with original architectural beauty among its buildings, homes, and long-standing history.

In 1978, Calvert was added to the National Register of Historic Places. The Sesquicentennial event of this one-of-a-kind gem of a town located in Robertson County is a must-see destination as it rolls out the red carpet welcoming all to enjoy its Victorian-inspired theme this spring.

So what can you expect at this impressive 150th Anniversary celebration? Plenty of festivities, parties in mansions, characters in Victorian outfits strolling along the historic streets of its downtown district and more!

Some of the events lined up for the day include:

  • Founder’s Day Parade-No town is complete without a small town parade full of charm.
  • Victorian Hat 5K Run/Walk & Social-Prizes will be awarded for best Victorian hats for women and men.
  • Victorian Tea-A 3-course tea in Calverts Historic Gibson home.
  • Historic Home Tours-A tour of some of Calvert’s elegant Victorian homes.
  •  Antique/Classic/Hot Rod Show-A showcase of beautiful classic, and unique cars on display.
  • Calvert History Exhibits
  • Artisans and Arts & Crafts

You can also enjoy food trucks and vendors, wild west actors, live music with featured Texas artists bands, and a grand fireworks finale to wrap up this impressive celebration.
