This Charming Farmhouse Brings French Style to the Texas Hill Country
There are plenty of farmhouses scattered across the scenic Texas Hill Country, but few are as charming as the home of interior designer Anita Joyce.
Joyce runs the Cedar Hill Farmhouse blog, which is filled with DIY projects that are inspired by the French countryside. Fittingly, the home itself is filled with incredible repurposed pieces and inspired designs that bring plenty of European charm to the Texas property.
The back porch features a cozy mixture of frilly details and shabby-chic wooden furniture that create the perfect place to sit and watch the sunset.
“French country style is very warm and inviting, and it’s the most compelling to me because it’s a combination of beauty and comfort,” Joyce told House Beautiful of her home’s design scheme.
“After my first trip to the south of France, I decided it was just the most beautiful part of the world I had ever been to, and when I saw the lifestyle there, the culture, the furniture, I was hooked,” she explains. “French country style is very warm and inviting, and it’s the most compelling to me because it’s a combination of beauty and comfort.”
All of that charm is quadrupled as soon as you step foot inside the main residence’s kitchen and dining area, combining a mixture of modern appliances and rustic charm.
“When you’re in the country, the whole point is to be outside, so I just wanted to do it right,” Joyce says. “We live on that back porch as much as possible, so I wanted it really cozy.”
