‘Deep in the Heart of Tex-Mex’: Chuy’s Opens New Restaurant in Cedar Park
As soon as you walk in the door you are surrounded by the amazing smells. The eclectic atmosphere that has become the standard for every single location. This Austin original, Texas Tex-Mex favorite restaurant has been making Texans happy since 1982. Every restaurant has that same ambiance, “If you’ve seen one Chuy’s, You’ve seen one Chuy’s, ” and it makes it feel like home wherever you go in Texas and even beyond Texas’ borders. With the celebration of opening of their 33rd Texas restaurant in Cedar Park, everyone agrees, it couldn’t have come soon enough.
Locals from Cedar Park and the surrounding Hill Country area happily waited in line. The lunch crowd was packed with more than an hour wait to get some of that yummy fresh Tex-Mex. But it’s was all worth it with the arrival of the first basket of warm tortilla chips and the salsa. Oh, and don’t forget to order the creamy jalapeño. Better yet, avoid the wait, order two!
Chuy’s started in the Barton Springs area of Austin when they moved into an abandoned old barbecue joint. From here, the founders Mike Young and John Zapp created a “fun and funky Tex-Mex restaurant that served authentic and fresh food in an atmosphere that appealed to everyone.” Each location has its own certain charm but they all contain the quirkiness that keeps locals coming back for more. From the hub cab room to the Elvis shrine, the restaurant embodies the founders’ decorative creativity. Some say their decorator, Jose Cuervo, was the real genius behind the inspiring atmosphere.
But everyone agrees. So when you have out of town guest, you take them to Chuy’s. Perhaps you want a great happy hour, where you can serve yourself out of the back of a car trunk, Chuy’s is the place. If you want true, authentic, fresh Tex Mex, Chuy’s is the go-to place on anyone’s radar. Trust in knowing that the wait will be worth it. Or better still, they have to-go ordering.
