Pipe Creek, Texas is a small town that lies about 10-minutes east of Bandera on Hwy 16. As of 2014, there were only 77 residents; however, this tiny town makes for a great getaway outside of the hustle and bustle of the city. Its fresh country air and relaxed setting will instantly wash away all the tension of your busy schedule. Pair that with some laid-back outdoor activities, and you have yourself a vacation! Pack up the RV, gather the kids, and head out of town for a little bit of peace and quiet in this sleepy Texas town.

1. Take Advantage of the Fall Air

The cool air makes for a good time to explore the town. The Pipe Creek Pumpkin patch is a great place to start. Open every weekend in October, this pumpkin patch is full of fun-filled activities to keep the kiddos and adults entertained. There is a hayride, pumpkin painting, scarecrow dressing, and plenty of foods for sale at their snack bar.

Love horses? The Brighter Days Horse Refuge is a non-profit organization that rescues horses from all walks of life. Why not load up with carrots and head on out to visit these graceful beauties? There is no horseback riding, but they sure will enjoy the company.

2. Go Camping

The first thing you will want to do is set up camp. Naturally, you have brought your RV. There isn’t anything better than a little fall camping in the Texas Hill Country. The place to set up camp? Class A RV Park. Hurry, though, because space is limited! Don’t have an RV? No problem! Ask them about rentals. Not only will you get “Class A” service, but you will have a peaceful place to come back to when you are done exploring for the day. Something go wrong with your RV on the trip? Class A RV also offers a repair service, so there is no need to scrap your vacation. The park is located at 9500 State Hwy 16, Pipe Creek, Texas. Call toll free at 800-741-7038 or local 830-535-6007 to make your reservation.

3. Eat Some Amazing Food

Being a small town, there are only a handful of places to eat in Pipe Creek, making the decision for delicious food easy. If you are looking for a quick, juicy burger or a tasty breakfast taco, go to Jimmy Burgers. They even have a few servings of goodies on their secret menu, so be sure to ask about them when you go. If you need to rest your feet for a bit, then the place to go is Backyard Bistro. Here you will receive mouthwatering entrees that go directly from farm to table. The menu is simple and classy and is easily paired with a variety of wines the bistro keeps on hand.

4. Experience Medina Lake

Just a short 20-minute jaunt south lands you at Joe's Place Marina and Resort on Medina Lake. Here you can rent a boat for the day  (if you didn't bring one along). Take a tour of the lake, do a little sunbathing, and put a line or two into the water. Catfish and hybrid striped bass make for some good fishing, but the lake waters are also good for fishing largemouth, smallmouth, and white bass.

5. Gaze at the Hill Country Stars

The Hill Country skies are great for stargazing. The stars here couldn't be any bigger! Hop in the car and take a trip away from the city lights, turn off your headlights, and stare up at the sky. There is nothing more wondrous. Whether you are hanging out at the campground or the lake, gazing up at the night sky will round out this trip in a romantic and peaceful way.
