Every year for the past 19 years, Trees For Troops have delivered free Christmas trees to service members and their families to spread Christmas cheer. The initiative began when FedEx contacted the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation with the hopes to reach out to Americans during the holidays.

At this point, FedEx has brought over 176,000 trees to bases all over of the world. Their website states that “FedEx has logged more than 573,000 ground miles for the Trees for Troops program.” This year, the event took place on the 2nd – 4th of December so families would have plenty of time to enjoy their trees before Christmas day.

Executive Director of Christmas SPIRIT Foundation, Ann O’Connor, told FOX 5, “We have had an amazing year with Trees for Troops! This program is a huge highlight each year with the Christmas tree growers who are able to donate Christmas trees from their farms.”

If you’d like to get involved, keep an eye on the Trees For Troops website next year to see a list of participating farms where you can purchase a tree to be loaded onto a FedEx truck and sent to a service member’s home.
