New Food Hall in Houston to Become a ‘Culinary Destination’

By  |

Food outlets and bars will soon line the fancy lobby of the work-in-progress building project called The Jones on Main. The Houston Press explains that the JPMorgan Chase building at 712 Main will connect to 708 Main to form a food hall with 37-stories sitting on top of it.

Food halls, Chron.com explains, have become a big “culinary/retail trend” with similar concepts popping up in New York, San Francisco, Atlanta, and Philadelphia. The idea is to make the area a “culinary destination” for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for those who work in the area and people who are curious to check out multiple eateries in one convenient place.

Houston already has one food hall called Conservatory in the basement of the former Isis Theatre. The Jones on Main food hall will have a name that’s a bit more of a mouthful – the Food Hall at Main and Rusk.

For now, the exact details and what restaurants will have locations inside the lobby has yet to be revealed. But Fernando Urrutia, vice president of asset management for the JPMorgan Chase building, told Chron.com that Houstonians should expect, “chef-driven food outlets, a craft beer and curated wine bar, and art deco cocktail lounge and unique private spaces.”
