According to a recent press release from the Cailloux Theater, fans of Frank Sinatra will be able to experience a bit of what it might have been like to hear him live, as Rob Zappulla presents “Come Fly With Me”– A Tribute to Frank Sinatra, with the Sentimental Journey Orchestra at Cailloux Theater in Kerrville on Saturday, October 15, at 7:30 p.m.

Zappulla will sing through five decades of the Sinatra playbook, using the original charts used during Sinatra’s stints with the Dorseys, Nelson Riddle, and other legends of the big band era.

Backing him up will be Kerrville’s Sentimental Journey Orchestra, the 19-piece group that plays that big band sound.

“I’ve already talked with the conductor, Ted Conerly, and I am really impressed with them,” Zappulla said. “I look forward to coming to Texas and to working with the band.”

Zappulla has performed as the featured vocalist and trumpeter with many of the greats, including the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, with The Box Tops, Lesley Gore, Bobby Rydell, and others. He regularly works with jazz groups, orchestras, and big bands from Las Vegas to world cruises.

“Come Fly With Me” is part of the 2016-2017 Cailloux Performance Series, developed by Executive Director Jeffrey Brown to bring eclectic, high-quality performances to Hill Country audiences.
