This New Braunfels celebration features 10 days of tasting some of the best of German cuisine in the area, and along with these delicacies you can also enjoy some excellent live music and purchase some goods from local vendors to remember your trip by. Like their official event website says, “Sprechen sie fun?”

2. Go on a Treasure Hunt for Gemstones

The state gem of Texas, the topaz, can be found in Mason County, in the Texas Hill Country. Families can even do overnight stays in areas designed for planned digs, where gemstones of many shapes and sizes can be found on your own family-style treasure hunt. And, all of this can be done in the great outdoors here in your home state!

3. Go on a Homemade Pie Run

Texas features some stellar apple orchards. And, dessert lovers from all over this great state know that apple pie is not only a symbol of America in general, but it represents a fall time treat throughout North America! Why not take the family out for a homemade pie run from any one of our local orchards or farmers’ markets, hometown bakeries or even a church fundraiser? It’s a great way to spend time together, get out and enjoy parts of Texas in the fall, and spend some quality family time together – which ends in a sweet treat afterward!
