When it comes to geeking out on “Star Wars,” apparently the Fort Worth Police Department has the majority of us beat. NBC DFW reported that a very detailed video was recently posted to the FWPD’s official Facebook page featuring the character Chewbacca being shown a few things by a senior police officer.

On Wednesday, November 29, the video hit the FWPD social media account with a bang – with over 2.4 million viewers since it was uploaded! An elaborate plot that sees the rookie…’er Wookie, as part of the force (the Fort Worth Police force, and not the actual force…don’t get your Star Wars panties in a bunch), local fans seemed to truly appreciate the department’s efforts in portraying this loveable character as a poor lost police soul needing direction.

Chewie’s follies include a traffic stop that gets a little out of hand (to put it mildly) as well as some practice at the department’s gun range and an episode that takes place in self-defense – it’s definitely worth the watch! And, it’s not the first time the Fort Worth Police Department has done a “Star Wars” parody. Taking center stage in last year’s recruitment video was nothing less than a group of Imperial Stormtroopers. With over 20 million views on their Facebook page, needless to say, it garnered some attention. They’ve also shared a video they compiled of a recent job interview at the department that Darth Vader starred in. For those of you that speak geek, the FWPD is chalking up page views almost as fast as the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs.
