It’s easy to get into the Germanic spirit in New Braunfels. Events, beer, and music are all strong reminders of the heritage of this town’s founders. One place to obtain a true experience is Krause’s Biergarten & Café, located at 148 S. Castell Ave. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day of the week, both German specialties and traditional American options are available. As well as beer! With roughly 80 beers on tap and more in bottles and cans, it’s difficult to not find something delicious to your palate. Try the Kartoffel Poppers or the Munich Platter with a Weihenstephaner Hefe-Dunkel to really get in the spirit. Wine, ciders, a full bar, and margaritas are also options.

Formally a staple of New Braunfels beginning in 1959 under Kermit Krause, this spot is revitalized with its roots still firmly in place. Heritage is everywhere here; reclaimed wood from the area and regional flags create a thematic space alongside a covered pavilion with soaring ceilings and long tables with benches, to rouse a true biergarten feel. Bring a large group or share a table; you never know who may be seated next to you. A good time is sure to be had!
