Grab a Brew (or a Few) at These 5 Spirited Round Rock Establishments

Austin might be known for its unique and lively bars, breweries, and tap houses full of live music and character, but the capital city’s nearby neighbor Round Rock has several worthwhile hotspots of its own, complete with easier parking and shorter lines.

1. The Brass Tap

The Brass Tap is an upscale beer bar that offers up to 80 different craft beers on tap, the franchise’s website says. More than 300 varieties of imports, local craft beers, and a large selection of premium wines and cigars are offered on site. “We constantly are searching for the best beers from all regions around the world, and rotate our taps to ensure that you can always expect to find a new favorite,” the website says. “We offer hundreds of different bottled beers that are also available for carry out. At The Brass Tap, you can enjoy our spacious patio and never have to drink the same beer twice! …The relationship between our staff and our customers truly make The Brass Tap a local neighborhood hangout. Our team is passionate about beer and eager to provide you with the best beer to fit your taste.” Live music is also a frequent occurrence. The Brass Tap in Round Rock is located at 204 E Main Street.

2. URBAN

URBAN serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner in an upscale yet casual atmosphere. The locally owned and operated restaurant serves signature cocktails and craft beers along with their food items. They have indoor and patio seating available as well as a rooftop concept. “Come enjoy the sunset, bat watching, and the best views in Round Rock,” the URBAN website says of The Rooftop. “URBAN is proud to partner with the newly opened 411 Building in Downtown Round Rock. The Rooftop offers a full service bar featuring a selection of fine wines, draft beers from Bluebonnet Brewery and small plates.” The Rooftop is open Thursday 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday-Saturday 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., weather permitting. Live music is offered on all three nights and private or corporate events can be booked at The Rooftop. Round Rock’s URBAN is located at 110 S. Harris Street.

3. Wine Sensation

Wine Sensation is a family run wine bar that carries a wide variety of wines from all over the world. They also have food and beer available. “We have a friendly casual atmosphere,” the Wine Sensation website says. “You can meet new people or just relax after a hard day at work. Wine Sensation has daily wine, beer and food specials. We also have a private room that can be reserved for your private parties. Bring your furry friends on down, we have a 1,000 square foot pet friendly patio!” Wine Sensation is run by husband and wife team who love wine and wanted to share their passion with other people. “Everyone at Wine Sensation has a great knowledge of wine to so they can assist you on what works best for your palate,” the website says. “Wine Sensation has wines from around the world by the flight, glass or bottle.  You can even take a bottle to go.” Wine Sensation is at 409 N. Mays Street in Round Rock.

4. The Rock Sports Bar and Grill

“Looking for a friendly neighborhood bar for watching the game, drinks with friends, and delicious food?” The Rock’s Facebook page asks. “The Rock Sports Bar caters to all your needs and more, all under one roof! Every single beer we serve is poured at 32 degrees in a chilled mug. Our drinks our cold, our food is great, and the crowd always guarantees a good time. The Rock has a full range of draft and bottled beers and a pub menu that includes juicy burgers, chicken wings, Mexican favorites like queso and quesadillas, as well as our customer’s choice chicken fried chicken. Perhaps tonight you will want to order one of our rotating drink and dining specials and relax in the restaurant, out on the patio, or in front of one of our 18 big screen TVs. At The Rock, we live and breathe by brunch. Our brunch menu is available on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am-2pm. Bring your friends and enjoy a bloody mary or mimosa with migas, chicken and waffles, a breakfast burrito, or eggs benedict.” The Rock is located at 114 East Main Street, Round Rock.

Cover 3 serves lunch, dinner, and drinks. According to the restaurant’s Facebook page, it’s “an Austin restaurant and sports bar that provides an alternative dining experience for the sports fan and sophisticated diner. With our contemporary ambiance, two separate private dining areas, and excellent food, we provide it all.” The burgers are ranked number 12 in Texas according to Texas Monthly Magazine and it was voted number one “Austin’s favorite place to grab a beer” in Austin 360’s Reader’s Pick. There are two other locations in Austin and one in San Antonio. The Round Rock location is at 2800 N-IH 35, Suite 200.
