A new study from LendingTree says that American homeowners who are planning to move want to move to the Southeast, and for the most part, Texans want to stay put. WFAA explains that the financial services company used data from mortgage offer requests that LendingTree users had made to move out of their current state to produce their findings.

In their research, extensively seen here, LendingTree says that “Florida was the number one new destination for 18 of the 50 states. Of all purchase mortgage requests during the study’s time period, 9.14% were for consumers looking to move to Florida.” In fact, potential homebuyers looking to move from 18 out of the 50 states choose Florida as their destination. That includes much of the northeast, Florida’s neighboring states, and Texas.

But make no mistake, for the most part, Texans don’t want to move. “Texas had the highest percentage of residents looking to move within the state versus outside of the state. 92.54% of purchase mortgage requests from individuals in Texas were for properties within the state,” LendingTree.com explains, which probably doesn’t come as a surprise to Texans who love the Lone Star State. Apparently, Michigan takes second place as the state where residents want to stay put.
