Bubbles The Horse Plots His Own Rescue

Becky’s Hope Horse Rescue is a Frisco, Texas-based non-profit dedicated to the mission of saving animals. Most recently, their efforts were geared towards rescuing nine miniature donkeys from “kill pens,” when an adorable horse made its way into the hearts of Sue Chapman, as well as online followers, by pretending to be just one of the guys…er, donkeys.

He Was the Master of Disguise

Sue and several hard-working volunteers run Becky’s Hope, and their mission on December 16 was to save nine miniature donkeys. But while the trailer was being loaded, a skinny, grey horse made its way up to them, disregarding the commands of the kill lot employees. It seems he tried to “blend in” with the miniature donkeys, in effect planning to save himself from the slaughter house. Sue posted a picture and story of the horse’s efforts on their Facebook page, and it promptly picked up a lot of attention. He made it safely into her trailer, the group having just enough donations to pay his “bail” that day. Since then, Bubbles (as he’s been named by the folks at Becky’s) has had a video posting, pictures, and holiday greetings on their Facebook page. Bubbles is a star.

Bubbles the Ambassador

In fact, he’s an “ambassador” of sorts, says the Becky’s Hope Horse Rescue Facebook page, and their updates indicate that he’s doing “really well” after staging his own escape and making it safely to freedom. “He was intent that this was his ride out of there,” Chapman explained in one post. “We stood there staring as this old guy with crumbled ears from frostbite waited patiently for the group of mini donkeys to catch up so he could jump into the ‘freedom trailer’ out of there.”
