Test Your Shopping Endurance at the ‘Hotter Than Hell 100-Mile Yard Sale’

By  |

Have you ever heard of the 100-mile bicycle race in Wichita Falls that’s called the Hotter’N Hell Hundred? People from around the state set out to prove their mettle as a true Texan on this 100-mile bike race in 100+ degree heat. Sound like fun? No? Luckily, for those less athletically-inclined, there’s another way to prove your mettle in the sweltering Texas heat. How about a yard sale, stretching 100 miles, (of air conditioned car driving) aptly named the “Hotter Than Hell 100 Mile Yard Sale”?

And, remember: When it comes to yard sales, the “early bird gets the worm,” but the “night owl cleans up.” Simply put, the best treasures can be scooped up early but by the end of the day, sellers are ready to start slashing prices. Experts hint that you might have your best chance at a real bargain later in the day. Also, don’t be afraid to (politely) negotiate. Sellers are there to off-load their stuff, so you never know what they’ll accept unless you ask.

Happy shopping! Here’s to scoring some major finds and staying hydrated, cool, and safe this weekend. For more information on attending or participating in this shopping event, contact Debra at the Uvalde Chamber of Commerce at (830) 278-4115.
