Remember the days of hanging out with your friends at the roller rink listening to the disco tunes of the 70’s as you skated around that old wooden floor hoping those times would never end? Well, now you can re-create those memories and make new ones under Houston’s grand skyline as you get ready to get down and boogie-oogie-oogie.

The grand opening featured some favorite roller skating tunes from the 50’s -90’s from the Allen Oldies Band and two 10-minute derby demo battles from the roller derby girls group the Missfits Roller DerbyHouston Roller DerbyYellow Rose Derby Girls, and Southside Roller Derby. The rink was full of young and old alike enjoying the night sky and skating among the crisp cool breeze of the evening.

Discovery Green is the crown jewel of downtown Houston. This 12-acre park plays host to a variety of events year round to entertain visitors and locals, children and adults of all ages. On any given day you can catch a concert or play on the Anheuser-Busch Stage, enjoy an outdoor yoga class on its magnificent lawn, or do some kayaking and stand up paddleboarding on Kinder Lake.

In the winter from mid-November through mid-January, part of Kinder Lake is turned into an outdoor ice skating rink known as “The Ice at Discovery Green.” This year for the first time this same spot was turned into a roller rink for the month of March.
