New Year’s Eve wasn’t a time for celebration for the Fulmer family. According to Fox 26, 8-year-old Noah Fulmer was hit by a truck that day and had to be rushed to the hospital. When paramedics were treating the child, they had to cut off his beloved JJ Watt jersey. On top of the physical pain and mental trauma of being hit by a vehicle, losing his favorite jersey was devastating to Noah.

Marc (relationship unknown) tweeted to JJ Watt himself to tell him about Noah’s condition, and true to his nature, the Texans football player responded with care and a promise to drop by. Watt arrived with three new jerseys, one signed of course and spoke with the brave little boy to brighten his spirits.

The encouragement from an idol might have been exactly what Noah needed. According to Marc, the child even managed to wheel himself around in a wheelchair in the hospital on Wednesday. He had a jersey in his lap and Watt’s optimism in his mind.

Noah has several surgeries and a long hospital stay ahead to make a recovery from the accident. The family has started a GoFundMe page to help pay for his medical expenses.
