It can be nice to let someone else do the driving, especially in a state as big as Texas. Even better than simply relaxing in a passenger seat is to take the opportunity to learn something while you travel and enjoy snacks! All these perks are included in Cottonwood Wine Tours, which depart for the heart of the Hill Country from San Antonio seven days a week. Two types of tours are offered, rain or shine: Winery (and Distillery/Brewery) tours and Food/Historic tours. All tour pricing is per person and includes tasting fees, light snacks, transportation, and an informative tour guide.

They really do offer something for every palate. Eleven tours are currently offered featuring samplings, shopping, and history. Check out the family-friendly options, those that stay close to San Antonio, or tours for the food-focused. One example of the wide range of options is the Bourbon, Blush & Beer tour. An all-day trek beginning at 10:30 a.m., the first stop is to Garrison Brothers Bourbon Distillery in Hye. This beautiful site is tucked away in the countryside. Its sweeping views and comfortable outdoor seating set the tone for a relaxing day. Next stops include one winery, one brewery, and then an hour to wander around Johnson City, childhood home of President Lyndon Johnson. Boutiques, antiques, and historical sites are ready to be taken in! Or stop by Whittington’s Jerky & General Store to stock up on delicious beef jerky and exciting microwaveable pork rinds. The Bourbon, Blush & Beer tour runs Wednesday through Sunday.
