Singer/Songwriter Lisa Morales’ duet with the late award-winning, acclaimed Americana musician Jimmy LaFave,“Avalanche,” was released on September 22, 2017. It’s set to bring her soulful, and poetic lyrics full of heartfelt truths on tour through Austin, TX on October 4th followed by other Texas cities in the coming months.

Morales began writing songs at the age of seven and formed her first band at 10 with her sister Roberta. According to a press release, “As the group Sisters Morales, they’ve released five albums and toured with Los Lobos, Allison Krauss, and Merle Haggard, among others – and will reunite Oct. 8 for a performance at San Francisco’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival.”

Morales is set to release her next solo album, “Luna Negra and the Daughter of the Sun.” The release of  “Avalanche,” with Jimmy LaFave is “a gorgeous ballad of hurt and hope that carries an extra note of poignancy because he lost his battle with cancer not long after recording it,” shares her press release.

Through her latest album Morales, who wrote or co-wrote all but one of the album’s 11 tracks, brings more emotional depth to the lyrics, addressing those familiar heartwrenching issues we all face in intimate and family relationships. “Luna Negra is about going back to a poetic sense in Spanish,” explains Morales. “My mother was a PhD in Mexican literature, and she spoke to me in a poetic way. I returned to that in writing this album.”

Produced by keyboardist Michael Ramos (the BoDeans, Patty Griffin, John Mellencamp), Luna Negra features A-list Austin guitarists Charlie Sexton, Adrian Quesada and David Garza, as well as Los Lobos drummer Cougar Estrada, Los Lonely Boys bassist Jojo Garza and guest vocalists Eliza Gilkyson and LaFave, as shared by her press release. She’s transitioned all the music she grew up listening to and created a genre distinctly her own showcasing her unique blend and style that fans have come to know and enjoy.

Morales’ background includes a long line of musical genes as her grandmother trained as a concert pianist, an aunt who played first-chair violin with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and a father with a voice as compelling as Sinatra’s. Her first solo album, “Beautiful Mistake,” received rave reviews for her captivating voice that invites you into each lyric like a poetic story unfolding the truths of your heart. She continues to invite you into her soothing music with her second album. “Daughter of the Sun represents me,” says Morales. “It’s the beginning of something bright.”
