With a great history dating back to 2002, the Lonestar Rod & Kustom Round Up is an Austin-based hot rod and custom car show and music festival that has won the hearts of fans both state- and nation-wide. What began as a one-day event has since become a weekend-long celebration of cars, the people who love them, build them and drive them, as well as the music, creativity, and history which was and still is inspired by them.

With an amazing live music lineup, a giant swap meet including vendors, and a huge variety of traditional hot rods and custom cars from throughout the United States, the Travis County Expo Center will be a hub of activity on Friday and Saturday, April 6 and 7. Add to that the many events, barbecues, open houses and cruise nights that complement the Lonestar Rod & Kustom Round Up in advance of as well as during the show and it’s a car enthusiast’s dream event. In addition, all activities take place in and around the Austin area, which has some stunning Texas Hill Country scenery through which to cruise your custom model.

On Thursday, April 6, the event kicks off with a barbecue sponsored by local car clubs, from 12 to 4 p.m. at Old Beyersville Hall where visitors can also enjoy some live music and some southern hospitality. Following that, there are a couple of options such as live music at Top Notch Burgers starting at 6:30 p.m. with a drive-in movie to follow, as well as more live music sets at The Continental Club at 10 p.m. and 11:30 p.m..

On Friday, April 7, the Round Up Garage Crawl takes place starting at 7 a.m., with a cruise to see amazing local garages and projects, followed by a caravan to the Dell Children’s Hospital where the kids can have a look at all of the cool rides, and then finally making its way to the Travis County Expo Center. The gates for the expo center will be open from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Friday, and admission details, car show pre-registration and swap meet details can be found on the Lonestar Rod & Kustom Round Up website link provided here. Friday’s music lineup at the expo center looks fantastic, with a mixture of blues, swing, jazz, rock, and honkytonk tunes provided by the likes of the Peterson Brothers, the 24th Street Wailers, Jenny & The Mexicats, and the Derailers respectively. Following that, there are six different venues features a variety of musical stylings and added events to complement the Round Up and help its fans see more of the city.
