Saturday evening at Sweet Sammies in Fort Worth Currie Street, patrons were treated to free ice cream thanks to a generous stranger. “He walked in at 7 o’clock and started buying dessert. Said he would stop at some point, and never did, from 7 to 10,” Kory Close, the owner of the ice cream shop, told WFAA. The mysterious man, known only as Mr. Gary bought $1,300 worth of sweet treats that night!

The news says that the owner hinted that one of the employees possibly helped Mr. Gary with a parking violation a few weeks prior, but there was no real obvious reason as to why he decided to treat Sweet Sammies patrons on their busiest night of the week. “It was awesome. A real feel good feeling for everyone that was here,” Close said.

Sweet Sammies proudly posted a photo of Mr. Gary on Facebook holding up the seven-foot-long receipt that included all of the free ice cream he bought for the lucky customers. The store intends on hanging up the receipt on their wall. “We, and our customers, can’t thank you enough!” they wrote, thrilled that Mr. Gary chose to spend his time and money creating a day that will go down in Sweet Sammies history.
