On Tuesday, Fox 4 News posted an article urging citizens of Southlake, Texas to be on the lookout for a runaway tortoise. Samsung, the animal science classroom pet at Carroll Middle School, went missing last Friday afternoon after he escaped from his patio area that was accidentally left unlocked.

Michael David Pyeatt told the news that he saw Samsung strolling along near Gateway Church, but he assumed it was a wild creature that knew where it was going, and he didn’t think to try to retrieve him. But thankfully, that wasn’t the last Samsung sighting. In an update written five days later, Fox 4 reports that Bill Mathison, a Synetra employee, says that he spotted the tortoise outside of the Synetra building, about a mile away from the school.

Southlake DPS showed up at the scene to pick-up Samsung. While celebrating the end of Samsung’s wild journey, they snapped a few pictures of the 40-pound tortoise for their Twitter account. At 20-years-old, Samsung is a relatively young tortoise, so of course, he might get up to some mischief now and again.

Students and staff at Carroll Middle School are breathing a sigh of relief to have Samsung back at home.
