Opening one year ago this past weekend, the world’s first fully accessible water park came to the Texas Hill Country, and families from all over the nation have traveled to the Lone Star State for this Texas and world first!

Morgan’s Inspiration Island in San Antonio opened on June 17, 2017. Ever since then, parents and grandparents of children with disabilities no longer need to make alternate summer play arrangements out of fear that their child won’t be able to make use of water park attractions. No more will a child feel powerless to enjoy the same fun activities that their school friends and siblings do.

The whole park is wheelchair accessible with amusements that both children, as well as adults, with special needs are able to enjoy. Morgan’s Inspiration Island is a dream come true for families. In addition to the rides, there’s also a splash park designed with special needs children and adults in mind through the cooperation of doctors, therapists, educators, and caregivers. It allows for open play where no other had once existed. For families with children who don’t require added support or services, the park is great for the entire family, focusing on inclusion in a fun and cool atmosphere.

Located at Morgan’s Wonderland, an inclusive amusement park for those with special needs, visitors to Morgan’s Inspiration Island can take a River Boat Adventure Ride. They can enjoy water play on various amusements and splash pad equipment, not to mention savoring great food options and areas in which to cool off. In addition, the park offers free waterproof wheelchairs which are specially-designed for its guests, along with waterproof strollers. Keeping those with special needs at the forefront of this experience, the park also features water in its Rainbow Reef section which is conditioned to be warmer for those that have a sensitivity to cold!
