Located along Interstate 10 and nestled amongst the hills of Kerr County, Kerrville is a thriving community jam-packed with experiences for the young and the young at heart. Outdoor adventures, visual and performing arts, and a wide range of shopping and dining options await anyone who ventures to “The Ville.”

1. Nature

Situated along the banks of the Guadalupe River, Kerrville offers its visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the great outdoors. Kayaking the river, picnicking in one of the beautiful parks, or exploring the Riverside Nature Center are a few of the options available. The Texas Parks and Wildlife’s Kerrville Wildlife Management Area also provides a chance for guests to catch a glimpse of native wildlife such as deer, bobcats, turkey and much more!

2. Culture

While getting back to nature is refreshing, a dash of refinement can be good for the soul. Thankfully, Kerrville has a flourishing art community. “The Coming King” Sculpture Prayer Garden is a wonderful site for prayer and reflection, but if a tour around a museum or gallery is more to your liking the city is home to several. The Museum of Western Art, Kerr Arts and Cultural Center, and the Duncan-McAshan Visual Arts Center all house fabulous visual art pieces. Other locations offer unique experiences. For instance, visitors can feel transported across the pond as they view Stonehenge II, an exact replica of the famous stone formation in England.

Performance art also takes place year round in Kerrville’s Kathleen C. Cailloux Performing Arts Center. During the summer months, lovers of the theater can appreciate the stars shining “big and bright” as they take in a production in the open air Point Theatre. For music lovers, the Symphony of the Hills is made up of musicians from all across Hill Country. Visitors can relax and enjoy the sound of these talented individuals during four performances held throughout the year.

3. Dining

After taking in the sights and sounds, it is time to follow your nose to the best food Kerrville has to offer. Here, there is a place to satisfy every craving, with price points ranging across the spectrum. If fast food joints are more your style, there are plenty to be found. For a casual dining experience, Bumdoodlers Lunch Company, Buzzie’s Bar-B-Q, Broken Stone Pizza Company, and Brew Dogs Grill and Ale all fit the bill, with many other options available. Looking to be wined and dined? Grape Juice, Cowboy Steakhouse (claiming the most extensive Wine List in Hill Country), and 1011 Bistro can sate your thirst. Several local bakeries, ice cream parlors, and frozen yogurt shops can be found if you are hankering to finish off your meal with a sweet treat.

If a weekend getaway is in your future, and you want to combine the best of nature, culture, and dining, look no further than Kerrville. Just be sure you are truly ready to, “lose your heart to the hills.”
