Extra extra, eat all about it! The Pizza Press, a casual, build-your-own pizza restaurant, is coming to Austin at the end of this month. The Pizza Press is known for its high-quality ingredients, wide array of local craft beer, and 1920’s newspaper theme, Owner Lisa Hilo said. In keeping with the newspaper theme, customers at The Pizza Press are invited to “publish” their own pizza by choosing from an extensive selection of fresh toppings, cheese, and sauces.

In addition to creating a custom pizza which is “hot off the press” in under four minutes, customers can choose from signature pizzas including “The Times” (extra virgin olive oil, mozzarella, chicken, grape tomato, red onion, smoked gouda, and finished with fresh cilantro and Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce), “The Tribune” (red sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, red onion, mushroom, roasted red bell peppers, sweet Italian link sausage, Kalamata olives and ricotta), “The Chronicle” (extra virgin olive oil, mozzarella, imported artichoke hearts, grape tomato, red onion, crimini mushroom, chevre, roasted red bell peppers, and finished with fresh basil and basil pesto), and others. This is the first location outside of California for The Pizza Press.

Austin is a vibrant and growing area, and we know the community will embrace the concept,” Hilo said. “Austin is famous for its foodie culture and love for all things local and fresh. Between The Pizza Press supporting only craft breweries  – and most of them local to Austin – and serving the freshest, and honestly best-tasting pizza around, we knew Austinites would embrace the concept.”

Diners can also enjoy a selection of custom or grab-and-go salads and desserts, such as custom ice cream sandwiches, ice cream floats, tiramisu, and other seasonal treats. The Pizza Press serves award-winning Hope’s Cookies, made with all-natural, high-quality ingredients, as well as vanilla bean gelato from Bindi, an Italian dessert company that has been family owned and operated since 1946.

“Custom pizzas may grab the headlines at The Pizza Press, but the carefully curated assortment of twenty local craft beers on tap is also newsworthy,” Hilo said. “The restaurant also serves Stumptown Cold Brew Coffee and Virgil’s cream soda and root beer.”

Hilo said the restaurant’s revolving oven that cooks the pizza from both the top and bottom ensures an even bake and crispy crust.

“I absolutely love Austin and the community around the University of Texas,” Hilo said, adding that The Pizza Press is an official sponsor of the Texas Longhorns. “I am looking forward to serving them and giving back to the community.”
