The train show will feature seven to nine large displays of traveling model railroads of various scales. There will be over 60 vendors from Texas – and some from out of state – displaying on over 300 tables, for you to buy, sell, or swap. In addition to door prizes and a silent auction, there will also be a food court, featuring snacks, beverages and lunch selections for you to choo (choo) on.

Bring the kids because there will be LEGO trains to configure and tracks to build. The kids get to run the trains and there is a free ticket to ride the Landa Park Miniature Train up for grabs for all children, aged five and under. Be sure to visit the New Braunfels Railroad Museum store to treat yourself or get your holiday shopping off on the right track.

If the train show doesn’t offer you quite enough trains, head over to the New Braunfels Railroad Museum after. At the museum, there is a variety of artifacts and photographs from the golden age of railroading on display. Many of these are directly related to past New Braunfels operations of the International & Great Northern, MOPAC, and MKT railroads. The museum is open to the public at no charge and all are welcome!

Right next to the museum, is one of the busiest North/South Union Pacific railroad tracks. Over 30 trains pass by each day. Many of these trains run between Canada and Mexico, so it is not unusual to see Canadian and Mexican locomotives. The San Antonio to Chicago AMTRAK passenger train passes by twice per day (Northbound in the morning and Southbound in the early evening). This is a real treat for young and old alike and certainly the highlight of a trip to the New Braunfels Railroad Museum. To learn more, visit the Railroad Museum website or follow them on Facebook.
