By  |

As a designated local landmark, the Fairmount Hotel located at 401 S. Alamo St. in San Antonio, here in the Texas Hill Country, has a long history of giving their customers nothing but the best, and with their latest service concept, they’ll be doing that in spades! The hotel plans to give their customers happy hour with a view by adding a one-story rooftop bar to their facility. Presently in the hands of the city’s Historic and Design Review Commission for review and approval, the plans were also discussed at a public hearing regarding construction on July 19.

The initial concept drawings and plans have been provided by Sprinkle & Company Architects, including a shaded bar which will occupy the hotel’s rooftop space, located on the south side of the venue. Comfortable seating on the terrace setting will overlook the Hemisfair entrance and will most definitely be an excellent location from which to watch San Antonio’s New Year’s Eve fireworks.

Originally constructed in 1906 on the corner of Commerce and Bowie, the building was physically moved to its present location in 1985. With a new rooftop bar, the Fairmount will join a number of other notable similar offerings in the area that have great reputations their nightlife experiences. These include the St. Anthony Hotel at 300 E. Travis St., and Paramour at 102 9th St., Suite 400, both of which are known as hot venues for classic views and high-rise cocktail atmosphere.
