Newlyweds Owe Their Wedding Photographer $1M After Defaming Her on TV and Online

KSAT explains that back in October 2014, Andrew and Neely Moldovan held their wedding with Dallas-based Andrea Polito Photography handling the photos of the special day. Wedding albums are quite a bit of work to put together, and if they’re done well, they can take a long time. The Moldovans misunderstood the length of time everything would take, and they didn’t want to pay the fee for the cover photo. Instead of clearing everything up with the photographer, they went to the news and Facebook and said Andrea Polito Photography was “holding their pictures hostage” and “nickel and diming them.”

The news coverage greatly damaged Andrea Polito’s business. She once brought in 100 clients a year, but after the defamation of her character on the news and social media, her business was destroyed. Because of these hardships, this month, the court ruled in her favor, and she’s been awarded a $1.08 million defamation verdict.

“I’m emotionally exhausted. This has been a very long battle,” the photographer told NBC DFW. “Last Friday when the verdict was read I felt a little bit relieved, but most importantly I feel my reputation was restored to myself. What’s been so hard the past couple of years has been feeling so ashamed of this story.”
