For the most part, Gillespie County peach season will be over in two to three weeks from July 1. Some may still be available in early August.  With peaches, there is no time like the present; they aren’t here long, and once picked, they don’t last long.  Get them while you can.  Between the varieties, there is actually little difference in sugar content, although varying acidity levels between varieties will make some seem sweeter than others. Some varieties are “Freestone” and other not, and that characteristic can vary from season to season; don’t wait on one of those, get your peaches now.

Downtown Fredericksburg restaurant Buffalo Nickel uses fresh Marburger Orchards peaches to craft delicious Peach Margaritas like this one being delivered by Sarah. Peach Daiquiris are also an option. Either one makes a scrumptious dessert after eating one of their sumptuous hamburgers.
