Make Your Potatoes Sweet for Christmas With Granny’s Candied Yams

By  |

Sweet potatoes and yams are not the same vegetables but many think they are. Yams appear whiter in color, contain more starch, and contain less water. Sweet potatoes come in various colors also, but the yellow, golden variety are a tradition at the holiday table.

Here’s a surprise. Sweet potatoes are not really potatoes! They originate with the Morning Glory family. When you sit down to enjoy your side dish on Christmas, remember, you’re eating a flower.

Although the name of this recipe says “yams,” it is actually a sweet potato recipe. These little bites taste like candy but serve them as a side dish. Guests will love them.
