PBS is featuring a new documentary series beginning April 5, called “10 Parks That Changed America”, where they’ll feature San Antonio’s own River Walk.

The three-part television and web series, as reported by the San Antonio Express-Newswill give a “whirlwind tour of America’s architectural treasures, showcasing the 10 parks, buildings, homes, and towns that revolutionized the nation.” Knowing that the River Walk is considered one of these places is a pretty special honor.

This honor comes as no surprise to visitors to the River Walk or Texans in general since we know it’s pretty much one of the best parks ever, but it’ll be awesome to see how PBS ties it into the larger list. Also included will be New York City’s Central Park and Seattle’s Freeway Park to show how architecture is displayed in each region of the country.

The series is hosted by Geoffrey Baer, known as Chicago’s best tour guide. In the snippet video below, we can see Baer cruising along the River Walk by famous river taxi while describing the history of the park.

It’s awesome to see a television series like this, especially since this year is the 100th anniversary of the National Parks Service.
