The Sandhills Stock Show & Rodeo started on January 3 but there’s still time to get out to Ector County and see the show before it ends on January 13! According to their website, this rodeo is run by over 250 volunteers who work very hard to bring “…livestock, youth, families, professional cowboys and cowgirls together through the sport of professional rodeo.”

Last year, their livestock show gave out $1,400 for the first place lamb and $5,000 for the first place steer. They also hold a horse show drawing entries from all of West Texas, and the Sandhills rodeo brings in an audience numbering in the 20,000s. Tickets for the events can be purchased ahead of time here. And a full PDF version of the schedule is available here.

Overall, the Sandhills Stock Show & Rodeo receives rave reviews on their Facebook page. “It was a delightfully fun time! The Clown act was the best Ihave seen in years! The announcer was superb! A very fun evening! Job well done, Odessa!” Janeane White wrote this year.
