The Texas Hill Country can produce some pretty profound people, things, and places. The town of Hye is one of the latter. With a post office that’s been designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark and a namesake town founder who settled the area with his parents in 1872, there’s a veritable patchwork of profundity in its roots, layout, and Texas Hill Country appeal. The opportunities to stay, eat at, and play are not limited in this town of approximately 100 people (give or take a few). Have a little imagination, some spontaneity, and a passion for a town with a brilliant past, present, and future, and you’re looking at Hye.

Did somebody say wine? Hye is most famous for President Lynden B. Johnson swearing in Lawrence F. O’Brien as United States Postmaster General on the front porch of the town post office, but the second things it’s fast becoming famous for is wine and great wineries. Hye is home to William Chris Vineyards, Hye Meadow Winery, Calais Winery, and Compass Rose Cellars. So go enjoy the Hye life in the Texas Hill Country, and toast with a glass of the good stuff!
