“Went to Target today and saw this amazing addition to the baby section! The basket on the ground has free breast pads, too! #normalizebreastfeeding,” Hannah Castillo posted on Facebook, rejoicing that her local Target in New Braunfels created a comfortable, small space for mothers who need to breastfeed their infants.

The post has been shared over 44K times and received over 1.3K comments, most of which support the store’s decision. Melissa Nunes wrote, “Need this in more stores, as a mom to be I don’t feel like I should have to hide in a bathroom or run to my car to feed my daughter. If people have a problem with this they should avoid the baby section of the store it’s that simple!”

Many moms are made to feel ashamed of breastfeeding in public, and this particular Target store hopes to give mothers an area where they can relax to take care of their child. KVUE spoke to Target representative, Kristy Welker, who said, “Store leaders are empowered to make decisions that help meet the needs of the guests they serve, as our team did at the New Braunfels store.” There are no plans to expand the idea to other stores at this time.
