Well-Meant Hill Country Bluebonnet Photo Catches Something Gone Awry

Sometimes, despite our best efforts at design and appeal, our homes and backyards can become hazards for wild animals. If you haven’t spotted it in the cover photo, this magnified version should make it clearer. A deer appears to have tried to clear the fence and in a failed attempt at the jump, got its hind legs entangled. The poor creature was dangling from the fence as the bluebonnet photo was taken.

Unfortunately, this sight isn’t as uncommon as you may think. When or if you or your family members spot a trapped animal such as this, the best thing to do is to contact your local Animal Control, and barring that, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Although you may mean well, the animal might not recognize that, and to keep it from becoming more entangled or worse, injured further, the proper authorities can step in and untangle it without further harm coming to it, or to you.

We’re certain a Good Samaritan was able to free the deer in this instance before it became badly injured, and we thank Hillary for submitting the picture and bringing this all-too-common incident to everyone’s attention.
