Two new hires at a Lowe’s in Texas will inspire customers to do more than just home improvement. Clay Luthy, a disabled veteran, and Charlotte, his 10-year old golden retriever service dog, were the best pair for the job, says Jay Fellers, Lowe’s HR manager in Abilene, TX.

In an interview with KIDY, Fellers noted, “We went through the interview process, and Clay and his own merit won the job. And we knew he was going to make a great employee— we just got the benefit of getting Charlotte right along with him.”

Clay originally got Charlotte as a puppy, and identified that she was never intended to be a service dog. As reported by the Abilene Reporter-News, she is trained to assist Clay (U.S. Air Force veteran), if he falls due to knee injuries. His left knee isn’t able to bend at all after having gone through five surgeries. A picture of Clay and Charlotte in their Lowe’s vests went viral on Facebook last week after an Abilene Lowe’s customer posted the pair on November 29.
