Police in Plattsburgh, New York, have identified that the man in question was in northern New York state to tie the knot on July 9, when his nuptials were abruptly called off. Following that, authorities responded to reports of a number of vehicles that were set on fire at the north end of that city, which is located approximately 20 miles south of the international border with Canada.

Of the eight arsons, police have identified that at least two of the vehicles were complete write-offs while some of the others sustained only minor damage. After watching hours of surveillance video from the street in question, the Plattsburgh Police Department focused on Jimmy Williams, a 35-year-old man from Texas. As their key suspect, Williams was then located in the Houston area and promptly taken into custody.

Being held in the Clinton County Jail, Williams was taken back to Plattsburgh, New York, late on Tuesday, July 25, and charged with eight counts of arson. His bail was set at $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond, and despite the end result, there has been no reason given as to why the man’s wedding was called off. According to a report by NBC DFW, a message was left with Williams’ attorney by the Associated Press, however, that call has not been returned.
