This new park, which is anticipated to be constructed on existing parking lot space south of Randol Mill Road near Globe Life Park, will feature a retractable roof to assist in climate control, helping to keep players and fans cooler. Team officials said in a statement, “The state-of-the-art ballpark will not only be the new home of the Texas Rangers but also a multipurpose sports and entertainment venue that will include capabilities for hosting high school, college and international sports.”

Through a bond package, close to $500 million in stadium costs will be paid by the city of Arlington, including a number of taxes previously approved to finance AT&T Stadium costs. An extended deal will see the Rangers playing in Arlington through the year 2054, when their current lease on Globe Life Park (a 30-year arrangement,) would have expired in 2024. The construction of the new stadium is anticipated to commence later in 2017 with a plan to be ready for an opening home game at the start of the 2020 season.
