With a mission to bring Texas wineries to downtown Austin, Texas Reds and Whites is planning to open a tasting room on Red River Street in the summer of 2017. Serving a duo purpose, as a retail shop and Texas-only tasting room, the business plans to have daily samplings of smaller Texas winery offerings, and their present roster consists of several vineyards from the Texas Hill Country, including Wedding Oak Winery, Old Man Scary Cellars, Georgetown Winery, and Perissos Vineyard and Winery, to name a few.

In an interview with Eater Austin, co-owner Martha Fischer explained, “Austin visitors don’t even realize that Texas produces superior wine, and we wanted to share more of the taste of Texas.” Partner in the business, Diana Mortensen, shares that sentiment with Martha, identifying that they want to “give visitors the opportunity to experience Texas wines when they don’t have the time or the opportunity to visit our wonderful Texas vineyards and wineries.”

A variety of Texas beers and packaged food products from the Lone Star State will be supplementing the wine offerings by Texas Reds and Whites, and plans for its future features include accommodating wine clubs as well as hosting special events. Future hours of operation are proposed to be Tuesday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday through the weekend, 11 a.m. to midnight. Keep an eye on their webpage for construction and grand opening updates. This business will be one to watch!
