Located on the shores of Galveston Bay sits the home of former Texas Governor Ross Sterling. Sterling, who was the founder of the Exxon oil company, had the home built in 1924, and it was once the largest privately-owned residence in the entire state. The house, also known as “The First Texas White House,” recently went up for auction, and according to Concierge Auctions, was sold for an undisclosed price.

At just under 20,700 square feet, this scaled-down model of the actual White House is considerably smaller than the 55,000 square-foot actual White House in Washington D.C. Nonetheless, you’ll find its nine bedrooms and 15 baths will somehow get the owners by.

In addition to an extensive amount of luxury, the current owners of this dreamy Texas pad have spent time and money renovating and updating the White House replica. A media room, professional-grade appliances, and a rooftop deck are hardly things to sneeze at for sure, but the feature that stands out with sheer quality and class is the mahogany-paneled library – an introvert’s (or a wealthy recluse’s) dream come true!
