When you think of your dream home, you don’t usually think of an aluminum trailer. But you might want to reconsider after checking out the stunning architecture of the south Texas Locomotive Ranch Trailer.

Designed by Andrew Hinman Architecture, the ranch home is actually a family’s beloved vintage trailer parked in a steel-framed, metal-roofed cradle. The result was an ultra-sleek home that looks like a modern style train station.

The idea behind the design all came down to location. The family wanted to live in their trailer on their south Texas ranch, but because of the flood-prone area (next to the Nueces River), special precautions needed to be taken to keep it securely off the ground. According to Andrew Hinman Architecture, “The cradle is anchored by a concrete blockhouse containing utilities, storage, and bathroom and topped by a screened sleeping loft.”

The home comes with more features than one might think. For starters, it has its very own screened in porch which is perfect for looking out over the ranch and river.

Then there’s the unexpected interior of the trailer. With bamboo paneling and LED lighting, the trailer has a very trendy and minimalist feel.
