Uptown Sound Studio, located on Main Street in Marble Falls, is in the process of getting a makeover. In early 2016, John David Kent, a musician and world traveler, leased out the old theatre from Russel Buster and has already begun renovations to restore it not only to a classy entertainment venue but also a recording studio. Kent’s vision is to bring first-class entertainment to Uptown. He doesn’t want Uptown to be just any bar, he wants it to be a place where people from all walks of life can relax and enjoy themselves.

The goal is to repurpose Uptown Sound Studio to its original charm. The theatre will bring music, film, theater, and other live events to Marble Falls just as it did when it was originally built. Kent built a bar in the concessions area where it will serve craft beer and converted the balcony to a VIP seating area. He has also set high standards in regards to the art and entertainment that will be hosted there. His goal is to bring in internationally renowned artists that generally don’t perform on small stages.

Uptown’s recording studio portion was converted from the old green room and an old closet was turned into an isolation booth. The sound booth will be outfitted with the only the highest quality recording equipment. Artists will be able to block out weeks or even months at a time to records their latest albums. The studio is stocked full of musical instruments and the atmosphere is sure to inspire it’s artists with its historic, intimate charm.

Uptown’s grand opening is May 28, 2016, opening with Whiskey Meyers at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased through their website. VIP tickets are already sold out, but there are still tickets available at the general and premium admission levels. It is a cash-only venue, but an ATM is available onsite.
