Have you had the chance to fully recover from the holidays? Do you miss the social gatherings and parties and are now sifting through your social media to find ways to take advantage of the Texas Hill Country winter weather? Get a few friends together and consider a winery road trip that the great people at Way Out Wineries have put together. Their goal: Bringing Mardi Gras to you.

As the road trip name implies, this small group of wineries is considerably more spread out in the Texas Hill Country than the standard trip down Highway 290, but what they lack in proximity they make up for with charm, personality, and fun. This year’s Mardi Gras Road Trip is one for the record books. Put on your best boas, beads, and all manner of Mardi Gras paraphernalia because this is truly a Louisiana-style bash with a sweet Texas twist. Over the course of the second and third weekends in February (that means three days folks), participating wineries in this road trip celebration will turn themselves into French Quarter bistros.

Purchase your $35 ticket and then “laissez les bon temps rouler” right on down the road. You’ll receive a signature commemorating wine glass at your first stop and each winery will welcome you in true Mardi Gras style with colorful beads, Cajun-style food pairings, and plenty of great wine tasting. You can also get some discount treasure by drawing from the chests of doubloons at each participating winery for $1, $2, or $3 discounts on purchases.

If you think this is too much excitement right after your holiday whirlwind, relax. Each weekend presents three days in which to party! Take your friends, take some time to enjoy the scenic Texas Hill Country, and spend some time meandering, shopping, or simply getting some rest and relaxation. Then choose a new direction to set out on the next day. But, get your ticket now before the opportunity passes you by!
