Award-winning Central Texas filmmaker Ben Masters is taking conservation-related short films on a road trip across Texas. San Antonio and Austin are two of eleven stops for the Wild Texas Film Tour. Tour dates start on September 21 and will end in late October. The tour will feature Texas wildlife, adventure, and conservation short films along with characters from the films, filmmakers, wildlife biologists, and other experts.

One of the films features noted conservationist David Bamberger, who’s Selah Bamberger Ranch in Johnson City was called the worst piece of real estate in Blanco when he purchased it in 1969. Bamberger’s incredible conservation ethic and close to 50 years of work has resulted in a remarkable transformation that is now a national model for land stewardship. Masters’ film, “Water from Stone,” tells the story of the man, the land, and the legacy he is leaving for future generations.

Bat Conservation International

Bracken Cave Manager Fran Hutchens with Bat Conservation International will be one of the featured guests at the San Antonio event on September 21. One of the films that will be screened at that event highlights the efforts to learn more about white-nose syndrome, the deadly disease that has killed millions of bats across the country.
